Miraculous Near Miss!

from an email to Elisabeth  from Olga

Hi Sister Elisabeth...

I am just now able to sit at my computer since this morning. It's so true what you said about praying ceaslessly, even in the face of hopelessness because prayer indeed is a mighty and powerful tool, especially against the enemy!

Yesterday however, my family and I took a drive out into the country. The northern part of Ontario which is commonly known as "cottage country" because a lot of people have got summer cottages there and it's also a very rural area where there are lots of open space, lakes and trees everywhere you look. In the fall, it is especially a very lovely place to visit, mainly to see the different colours of the trees. I tell you, it is truly a breathtaking experience and one cannot helped being awed by the sight because it sure screams the fact that GOD is surely behind all that beauty!

Anyway, as we were on our way, Cassi-Ann suggested that she wanted to go to the washroom, so, because we were in the middle of nowhere (Just trees on both sides of the road for as far as the eyes could see, we decided to pull over to the shoulder of the road, so she could relieve herself. My husband (Nigel) had his indicator on a good distance before we stopped because we were practictally on a highway and cars were driving a minimum of 120 kilometers (75 miles) per hour. He also checked his rear view mirror to make sure that the car behind us was a safe distance away, before we pulled over.

As he slowed down and pulled over to the shoulder of the road, he never came to a full stop. He simple allowed the van to slowly roll along the shoulder of the road just for a few short seconds. Suddenly, in those few short seconds a small pick up truck came out of no where behind us, and landed up in the ditch, just metres away from where he had partially stopped!

I have to breath a huge sigh here. My husband and I looked at each other in stunned disbelief because we had no idea what had happened. We looked to the rear of the van still seated with our seat belts on and looked at the guy in his pick up in the ditch below us, and looked for a second time to the rear of the van and I thought to myself how on earth is the rear of the van still there!

Sister Sherrie, I am very serious when I said that this pick up truck which was probably going between 120 and 140 kilometers (75 and 87 miles) per hour missed us by inches! No kidding! As I began to unbuckle my seat belt to open the door to investigate what happened I could only turn to my husband and said surely it was the hand of God that saved us and then I instantly gave Him thanks and praise!

We both got out of the van to see how the other guy was doing and we saw him unbuckle his seatbelt, opened his door and climp up the ditch and onto the shoulder of the road where we stood. He looked as if he was in his late twenties or early thirties and after we asked him if he was okay, he started explaining that the guy directly in front of him locked his breaks on him without warning.

At the time, we were wondering how this guy ended up in the ditch in just a matter of seconds, after we got on the shoulder of the road, since he wasn't even the vehicle behind us. Later, we figured that he himself wasn't paying attention to the car in front of him and at the last second, he realized that he was too close and swerved to avoid running into the car's back, slammed on his breaks in the process, and skidded onto the shoulder of the road and straight into the ditch below, missing the back of our van by mere inches at the rate of at least 120 kilometers per hour!

This was indeed a miracle from God that my family and I are still alive to tell this story. I certainly feel like a dead man walking, just like the movie they had ofthe same title.

Sister Sherrie, when I think of what could have happened if my husband had just stopped in the exact same spot where he had pulled over, I feel for sure we all would have been either dead or seriously injured because our van would have absorbed the full impact of the pick up truck that was coming at such a high rate of speed. By the way the guy was not injured in any way at all he only had to worry about the task of getting someone to pull his truck out of the ditch!

I fell very strongly that the hand of YAHUVEH GOD was surely upon us in that moment and that same hand that spared that guy's life as well. There was nothing we could do for him, so after a few minutes, we took off wishing him good luck that someone would stop by and assist him. We drove away totally awed by the experience and thinking that it was truly a miracle we were still alive and the van was still in tact. Even poor Cassi-Ann realized what had happened (she turned three in August) because for the rest of the journey she kept saying "Are we going to the car Mommy? I don't want to go the car" I think she was upset because she was seated at the right side of the van as I was and could clearly see the instant the pick up truck landed into the ditch and came to a sudden stop.

Well Sister, we eventually reached our destination safely, (we had lovely weather too) enjoyed the beauty of the trees and made it back home in one piece, all to the glory and praise of YAHUVEH our GOD! All throughout the day, needless to say we were all thinking about this incident because it just seemed so unreal!

YAHUVEH surely has speard our lives for a reason and I'm sure He is watching very closely to see how we utilize this second chance we were given. I know for sure that I'll draw a little closer to Him and do everything to the praise and glory of His wonderful name! In relating this to you, I am reminded of the miracle you experienced when you had that dreadful car accident. This was before we started corresponding and I remembered looking at the photos that were posted on your website, of the crash site, how the car was literally crushed and you walked out with only minor injuries and your son wasn't even hurt, right?

I also remembered a photo that showed an angel standing at the scene and I thought that was truly marvellous! [ picture below ]

But then, that's the kind of service YAHUVEH gives to His faithful and precious handmaiden because Heaven was surely not ready to claim you as yet, because YAHUVEH had more work here on Earth for you to do!

God bless you Dear Sister because if you hadn't survived that awesome crash I would never have gotten the opportunity of knowing you like I do now and of being blessed so richly by your friendship! Praise God for this and more!

This is all for now Sister. Have a good night and take care! You and your son both!

Love and Blessings,

Olga
